You Can’t Make Money Stuffing Envelopes!
And we should know. We tried doing it!
We came across this innocent looking ad in the window of the local newsagent. You know the sort we mean (you’ve probably seen them yourself): those little address cards. They usually say stuff like ‘local cleaner’ or ‘sofa for sale’.
Well, this one said ‘Make Money Stuffing Envelopes’ in big letters.
Truth be told, we’ve come across this work at home business opportunity before, but never really looked into it in detail. In our minds it always sounded quite appealing. There you’d be sitting at home, watching TV, putting one letter after another into an envelope and making money for doing it. In principal it really does sound like one of those easy ways to make money.
So in the interests of scientific research and making a quid or two we took down the details and sent off for some more information.
A couple of days later we got a letter telling us again how easy it was to make money stuffing envelopes, how we could be looking at making an extra £1000 plus a month before we knew it and how this was a genuine work at home, fire the boss, honest to goodness business opportunity.
There were even a couple of testimonials. ‘Pat from
Alright we lost £25 and we never even got to stuff one single envelope, but we figure it’s worth the money just so you know not to get taken in by this scam if you ever come across it. It was probably for the best anyway. Imagine having to lick all those envelopes! You’d have a tongue drier than a sandbox. And the taste of the gum as well… disgusting! Someone should make envelopes with glue that tastes nice like strawberry or mint… now there’s a business opportunity that might be worth looking into…
