A Boogie-licious Business Opportunity

We LOVE this funky business opportunity.

Not so much for the product (nothing new there really) but for the ingenious way it was marketed.

Read on if you want to learn how to capture a ready made customer base who’ll baying for your product… BEFORE it’s even produced!

Here’s is how it’s done.

First we need to take a peek an English television. Specifically good old BBC2 and a fantastic business opportunities show called ‘Dragon’s Den’.

It’s comprised of a hard-nosed bunch of real life business opportunity gurus who are reffered to as ‘dragons’. They’ve all made their various fortunes doing something entrepreneurial - mobile telecommunications, leisure centres, venture capitalism - that sort of thing.

These ‘dragons’ sit sit in what looks like an enormous loft and listen to members of the public tout out their business opportunities to them.

Here’s the kicker, if they like the idea, they can invest (both time and money).

Right, that’s enough blathering. What’s all this about a boogie-licious business opportunity?

Well, about a month ago, a chap called Levi Roots entered fray. He marched up to the dragons suited and booted weilding a guitar. Instead of telling them about his proposed business opportunity (a sauce called Reggae Reggae sauce) he made his appeal via the medium of song…

Now THAT stands out. No-one who watched the episode wasn’t talking about it the next day.

Why? Because we’re so used to people coming onto the show and just nervously reeling off buzzwords that his pitch was a breath of fresh air. Not only that, he was charming. No-one in the world could have watched his performance without immediately warming to him.

In this instance it didn’t really matter that he had a less than solid business model (and a terrifyingly loose grasp on accounts figures!) because one of the dragons, Peter Jones, spotted something:

This guy was a brand!

Levi Roots could have come on selling pickled onions. It wouldn’t have mattered. If you saw his face on a product after that show you’d HAVE to give it a try.

Peter Jones knew this and supermarket giant Sainsburys knew this.

And guess what?

Now it’s being stocked in every store in the country!

So, what are the secret ingredients to this business opportunity?

Simple: A spicy sauce, a guitar, a reggae singer and a whole lot of soul…

It just goes to show: we are, on the whole, emotive creatures - and as such our buying decisions are often based on the feeling a product evokes within us, rather than whether we actually need it.

So if you want to pursue a successful business opportunity, you NEED to bear this in mind.

Honestly, you could have the best business opportunity idea in the world. But if it hasn’t got soul… if it doesn’t capture the public’s imagination… then it’s going to be a LOT harder to break into the marketplace.

Levi Roots - we salute you!
