Make Money for Comic Relief and from It!
Alright, alright… this might not be the most moral of business opportunities and we’re sure we’ll have to answer for making money from Red Nose Day when we’re standing in front of the gates of St. Peter’s… but don’t forget the charity will still benefit from this novel idea on how you can make money so it’s not totally unscrupulous!
So what’s the crack then? Well, in a couple of weeks when the celebrations for the biennial event have died down a bit, a lot of shops will be left over with Red Nose Day and Comic Relief related stock – loads of red noses and other gimmicky stuff. They always overstock for one thing, and for another high street shopping is on the decline more and more these days (largely due to online shopping).
Now the stores will want to clear their shelves so they can get new stock in for the summer while minimizing their losses, which means… ta-da… prices getting slashed left, right and centre.
Which is where you come in. You wait until the Comic Relief related stock is practically being given away and you buy as much as you can. Then when the charity event comes round again (2009 by our reckoning) you start flogging what you’ve got on ebay and anywhere else you can – sort of reminiscent or retro red noses.
Make sure you give some of your profits to the charity as well (it’ll help ease our consciences).
But if you’re not keen on profiting from charity you can apply this idea to other big events.
For example, the World Cup and the Euro tournaments are great opportunities for you to make money. In fact you might even find these football events even better ways to make money. First off, because the merchandise is more generic (think red crosses on white backgrounds) and second, because everyone, but everyone stocks the England stuff including shops like Marks & Spencers, which let’s face it, aren’t necessarily the first place England fans rush to when they want to buy their flags, badges and t-shirts.
But M & S’ misfortune is your good luck because when the tournaments are over they’re always left with loads of stuff they want to shift at rock bottom prices.
We saw full size flags, and those ones you stick on your car window, going for 50p or less. Now when the tournaments come around next you know the merchandise will be nearly identical if not completely the same. And you can flog those bits of kit for as much as £5 a go, which is 1000% profit. Not a bad return for holding onto some stock for a few months, eh?
What we like even more about the England football opportunity as well is the fact that it doesn’t matter whether you’re talking about the World Cup or the Euro games – the core merchandise the fans buy is the same. Plus it means you get 2 chances to coin it in from this business opportunity every four years… and you can stock up regularly in anticipation for the next big event as well. Plus, you can flog any leftover stuff you have to cricket, tennis and rugby fans too.
Actually the more we think about it, the more we prefer the business opportunity in relation to England games… surely we can’t get judged by Him upstairs for that, can we?
Anyway whichever idea you decide to have a go with, as always be sure and let us know how you get on.
