Have You Seen the New £20 Notes?

You can always tell when the Bank of England brings out a new note. People go to the cashpoint, put in their cards, wait for their money and stand there staring at it like it’s the most bizarre thing they’ve ever seen in their lives.

Then they rush over to whoever they’re with and start gesturing at the new note excitedly.

“Have you seen this?”

“What was wrong with the old ones?”

The usual sort of thing when the Bank of England changes the currency we’re used to handling day in, day out.

On the 13th of March it was the twenty pound note which got the makeover. Now it features Adam Smith, one of the fathers of modern economics, has a big fat silver strip down one side and if we’re honest, looks and feels quite a bit like Euro bank notes.

Which got us thinking… surely it’s only a matter of time before we start using the Euro in this country. So maybe bringing out bank notes which are ‘Euro-esque’ is a way to prepare us when the good old pound is finally retired.

You know, soften the blow a bit.

Then again we might just be paranoid conspiracy nuts.

Either way the thing we never get, and maybe we’re just being ignorant here, is that the Bank of England seems to bring in a new note without much of a fanfare. It doesn’t really go in much for marketing. Or at least not as far as we can tell.

Otherwise why does everyone look so shell-shocked when they see the new notes?

Hopefully you’re putting more effort into marketing your business opportunities.

Anyway remember if it does all turn out to be a backdoor way of replacing the pound with the Euro, then you heard it here first!
