Procrastination: The Business Opportunity Killer
Shocking really…
You set out with all the right intentions. 1) I want to help people make money 2) I want to warn them off scams 3) I want to encourage them to persist, be patient and stay positive about their business opportunities.
Guess what happens?
We fall foul of the very business opportunity demon we so desperately want to warn you against! And what’s the name of this evil business opportunity thwarter?
PROCRASTINATION
Yes that’s right, procrastination.
If you’re anything like us, you’ll see a fantastic business opportunity, be it investing in property, setting up a subscription website or (as in this case) maintaining a blog and then…
BAM.
It becomes a passion. Every waking moment is filled with excitement and enthusiasm for this business opportunity. How wonderful it’s going to be, how much money it’s going to make… how you’ll soon be whiling away your time on a tropical island somewhere while money pours into your bank account.
Well, it doesn’t work like that – trust us, we know!
I mean look we’ve barely put up any content on this site for a week. Why? Because we’ve been too busy faffing around with other exciting looking business opportunities and forgetting the bigger picture.
Here’s a better example: A year ago I set up a celebrity gossip blog. I relentlessly poured content into this thing. Lots of fresh Google friendly content. It got about 50 visitors a day – not bad for 3 months work in hindsight…
But you know what?
I gave up on this nifty little business opportunity.
Why? Because it wasn’t bringing in immediate returns. I felt like my blood, sweat and tears weren’t paying off. So my passion ebbed and I stopped updating it.
Now, 12 months later I got an email, an emailing listing the site statistics for my celebrity gossip e-zine.
How many people were visiting now?
150 visitors every day! And it hadn’t even been updated for a year. That’s three times more visitors than when I decided to call it a day. Imagine if I’d carried on going, I’d probably be hitting at least a 1,000 a day!
But it’s all ‘what if’s’ and that word ‘if’ is your biggest enemy when it comes to business opportunities. It’s all very well getting fired up about something, but when you’re your own boss, you HAVE to follow through .
Otherwise you’ll be left staring at a pile of half finished (extremely time consuming) business opportunities and wondering what went wrong. Not good!
Be persistent – it will pay off!
