Is The Apprentice’s Tre Right?
Another week, another show of the highly addictive Apprentice. And this week it was Jadine who got ‘fired’ by Sir Alan. Although Tre only just got away with it.
Tre’s philosophy seems to be one of total self-belief. He believes he’s great, he tells other people he’s great and argues that as a result he’ll become great.
But is he right?
Well, he’s not done too bad so far… down to the last six. Of course whether that’s because he’s any good at the art of making money or because he’s TV entertainment gold is another story.
Nevertheless self-belief is important if you’re going to succeed and make lots of money. After all if you start your enterprise saying ‘this is bound to fail’ or ‘this’ll never work’, then you’ve got no chance. In fact you shouldn’t be starting the enterprise anyway.
And a lot of very successful entrepreneurs always talk about visualising your goals if you want to achieve them. Focus on your dreams and they’ll come true, they say. And of course it helps when you’ve had a rubbish day to remember what you’re doing it all for as well – the big house, the nice life for your family, the holiday home, the total financial freedom – whatever it may be you want.
So from that point of view Tre’s spot on. But at the same time you need to maintain an air of realism.
If you think you can change your fortunes overnight you might be in for a let down, which means you could end up despondent.
So our advice is always believe in yourself, but don’t give up if things don’t go exactly as you want them to right from the start.
