Like Father Like Son?
Rupert Murdoch… now there’s a success story for you… guy takes over his dad’s loss-making newspaper in Australia (The Adelaide News)… a few decades down the line, he’s buying Dow Jones, owner of the Wall Street Journal, to add to his vast collection of media businesses which already includes the Sun, The Times, News of the World, 20th Century Fox, Fox TV and HarperCollins.
Blimey… just one of those would do us.
Meanwhile Junior aka James Murdoch has just purchased Amstrad from Sir Alan ‘pointy finger’ Sugar for £125 million or rather BSkyB, where James sits on the board as chief exec has.
From our point of view Murdoch is one of those ‘Marmite’ (or should that be Vegemite) guys… you either love him or hate him.
But either way you can’t criticise his ability to make money and turn loss into profit.
And even though he’s well into his seventies now, he doesn’t seem to be letting up. So James, looks like you’ve got some huge shoes to fill – if your dad ever lets you that is!
